Overland Park, Kansas Web Design and SEO In the News
July 14th, 2014
Was doing a search in Google for Overland Park business, and it's interesting that one of top links that comes up is the Permits and Licenses page on the Overland Park city Web site. I find it interested because business owners are required to do so much regulatory stuff if they want to have a physical business presence. I imagine it's same in Olathe and Shawnee, Kansas as well. So you have to do all this regulatory work just to do business in Overland Park. How do business owners have time to actually run their business, and probably more important, get their businesses found. I mean, there have to be at least 25 carpet cleaning companies located in Overland Park. Leads me to believe that marketing, especially for in the service and food service businesses would be critical. So if you don't have the Star Power for marketing like my May 30th story below. I would assume the best marketing avenue would have to be Google and Overland Park, Kansas SEO.

It's great to have star power in Overland Park, Kansas. I saw this article on the Kansas City Star Web site about two new restaurants opening up in Overland Park, Kansas. Former KISS band members showed up as they are major investors in the restaurant chain that's opening. It's cool in my opinion to have this kind of influence in our community. As a Web Design company in Overland Park, I like that these two new restaurants are just 1 mile from my headquarter location. I will be riding my bike over and checking them out.

In Overland Park Kansas, Gift cards provide hope to kids
More than 20 kids were able to do something for themselves and family members thanks to the generosity of others.
Friday afternoon, representatives of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People(NAACP), Target, the Overland Park chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Overland Park Police Department brought Operation Rudolph to the kids.
Sixth grade students from seven elementary schools in the Shawnee Mission School District were given gift cards to shop for their family and themselves. Santa was on hand and provided each student a gift basket for their family with food.

From the Overland Park Kansas .org Web site
The city of Overland Park, Kansas traces its roots back to 1905 with the arrival of its founder William B. Strang Jr., who platted subdivisions, including one named "Overland Park," along a military roadway.
Strang envisioned a self-sustaining, well planned "park-like" community that had strong commerce, quality education, vibrant neighborhoods, convenient transportation and accommodating recreational facilities - all amenities that today, make Overland Park one of the best places to live and grow up.
Before Strang's death in 1921, he established several housing developments, an interurban railroad and an airfield. Remnants of his interurban line remain today as do his limestone car barn, 79th and Santa Fe Drive (home to Traditions Furniture), and his Carriage House in Santa Fe Commons Park, 8045 Santa Fe Drive (home to the Overland Park Historical Society).
On May 20, 1960, Overland Park was incorporated as a first-class city with a population of 28,085. The nationally-recognized city now encompasses 73.33 square miles of Johnson County in suburban Kansas City, and has more than 175,000 residents, making it the second most populous city in Kansas.
Prior to incorporation, Overland Park was part of the Mission Urban Township, which included the cities of Mission, Kansas and Prairie Village, Kansas. Overland Park's formation was based on land other communities shunned.
Major development since incorporation
- 1960s and 1970s: Corporate Woods, Metcalf South Shopping Center, Oak Park Mall and the Children's Farmstead opened, along with a new City Hall and many residential subdivisions.
- 1980s: Overland Park experienced a boom in commercial and residential development. By 1988, the city's population surpassed 100,000.
- Early 1990s: City officials focused their efforts on renovating the historic downtown area. The Clock Tower Plaza was dedicated and the Farmers' Market Pavilion was constructed.
- 2000s: Overland Park continues to have a thriving economy and welcomes new businesses regularly.
