September 23rd Development Meeting
The big news and celebration today was that we finally got to say Conception Abbey was live! Sean will be writing a company blog about the site, he’s been anxious to write about it since the project allowed us to learn many new things with WordPress and it’s abilities. We discussed some of the struggles we went through to get it live.
JoBeth talked to both Sean and I about the new processes going into place that will help us as developers when we get a new project. There was discussion about how it will work and then Sean and I both provided some feedback about different parts to the new process that we were concerned about. JoBeth said she’ll take our feedback and relay that to Chris & Dave. JoBeth asked us about what details she needs to make sure to get upfront from the client and how easy it is to make changes if the client decides to change later. Her example was about boxes on the home page, if they were color boxes and then the client wants an image as the background instead of a solid color. The change would be easy but that will then lead to how does the text overalaying read (is it hard, should colors change, do shadows need to be added, etc.)
We talked about our current work load and how these past two weeks have really stretched us all. Sean wanted to check with me about taking on more work if I still have a full plate, which I let him know right now it is full due to the tight deadline of LED2. After discussing the new process with JoBeth we feel that in a couple weeks we’ll be caught up and then the new process should start letting new projects in with all the needed content and details to quickly put together sites going forward.
I let Sean know that by next week he’d have LED2 to write about for a blog. While there aren’t really any new features it will be a great example of our work as the design is clean and showcases the mega menu as well as the custom functions we can create to populate the site with products and case studies.
