September 9th Development Meeting
We talked about web design process since Sean has a couple projects, just reviewed the steps to make sure he’ll be setting them up the same way as I do. JoBeth brought up the point about how when she trains there are different sections that Sean codes differently then I. We reviewed those to make sure we both code them all the same going forward. Sean was using the old way but is now going to start using our new Advanced Custom Fields way. We also discussed how it’s important to make sure we make things editable for the client and not hard-code so much of the details.
The Tiny PNG plugin that was discussed last week was brought up again since talking with you about not doing a company only option but have client’s pay. We decided that instead of hassling with that we’ll just start to request upfront that when the client sends us the photos they run them through TinyPNG.com’s website (20 at a time) first. If the client is unable to do this, we’ll just run the images through the site before uploading them.
We talked about reCAPTCHA and making sure we go through the process correctly as well as input the keys into OCIS for future use. The same goes for the Google Maps API key. We talked about how we need to make sure the Google information is gathered by the AM or BA before it’s assigned to a developer. And another important piece to go along with that is the recovery phone number associated with the Google account. That phone number is often requested when we developers try and access the site the first time on our computers. To help with the process if that phone number could be gathered as well it won’t slow the process down and require us to go back to the client to request that phone number.
