Is Your Website Responsive? Does It Matter?
Is your Kansas City Website responsive, and does it really matter?
Short answer – Yes it matters to Google.
So do you want your Website to show up well in Google? If yes, then it’s important to know if your site is responsive or not.
A “mobile” Website was the industry standard terminology used up to about 18 months ago, when at that point, Google pretty much decided that having a separate mobile version of a Website was not a “good” Website design technique.
They said that your main Website needs to respond to the size of any screen that’s opening it. It’s not an acceptable technique, according to Google, to have a separate site that looks good on a phone, and then one that looks good on a computer. Your computer version must just adjust itself, it must respond and shift stuff around for all sizes of screens.
A good way to test if your Website is responsive or not is to, on your computer, open the site in a browser like Chrome or Safari. Then get it so you can adjust the right side of the browser screen.
Pull the right side of the browser screen in or out, and watch the items on your site. Do they start shrinking, stacking and changing to fit the size of the screen? If not, then your site is not responsive.
Do you want to show up in Google? If your site is not responsive, then you are breaking one of Google’s cardinal rules of exceptional Website design, and they won’t rank your site as high as others with responsive designed sites.
Please don’t shoot the messenger, but making a non-responsive site, responsive, in most cases will require you to rebuild your Website from scratch. It’s a coding thing 🙁
So thanks Google for making life easier for consumers doing searches on their phone. But booooo Google for all the business owners out there right now having to shell out the bucks to rebuild their sites in responsive code.

If you're a small business and need a new website or need to update an old one, this is the company for you! You get... lots of support from real people you can actually talk to in real time as the project progresses. Who is the crazy competitor who left a weird review is what I want to know 2 year's ago? I would HIGHLY view that as... 'suspect" -based on my own companies dealings with them and Chris. I am very concerned about all the 5 star feedback.I was in the process of writing unfavorable feedback and they tried... to offer discounts. I did not accept this. Rather, I am going to state the honest truth. Other businesses need to know. You set aside a certain budget for web development and you think you are going to stay within that budget. Not a chance. I blew my budget beyond belief. They were "nickling and diming" me. I had no choice as I already paid a large deposit. Please continue reading this feedback.Right away we had problems with the website after it went live. From the website functions, to email, links, etc. The cost of not having a fully functional website as promised cost us dearly. After the site went live, they referred me to their technical support team. In some cases, I would email very simple yes/no questions. One liners that were truly yes/no questions. For their technical team to respond, they charged me a minimum of 15-30 minutes at $80-$90/hour. Well over $150k a year. "It takes time for them to investigate"...I was told. Anytime I would ask questions regarding issues...and I had plenty as there were so many things wrong with the website that should have been fixed prior to my site going live, I was being charged $80-$90/hour. Usually it was a lot more than that. When it was all said and done...and after all the "technical support" fees, I would have been much better off going with a more expensive web developer.Not to mention the thousands of dollars it cost my company a partial website.This is the honest feedback.....other businesses NEED TO know. They will likely try to contact me to remove this post but I shall not. Small mom and pop shops need to know. Small businesses need to know that have limited budgets.Having said this, I ask that KC Web specialist NOT contact me in anyway shape or form. It will be reported. I will not remove this feedback even if you offer a full refund. Absolutely not. Again, I am asking that you not reach out to me or all my business partners.read more
